Having the chance to look back on a season that at one point looked virtually impossible due to COVID-19 was one thing, but to see the continued growth of the club and the outstanding talent develop was another.
The Dubbo Junior AFL club was only formed in 2015 but has grown year on year and plans are already in place for two more sides to enter Central West competition in 2021.
Many of the players who featured in that first season five years ago have developed into stars of the club and were recognised at the recent presentation day.
"To see the development and achievements is amazing and there's a great relationship with the coaches," Dubbo Junior AFL president Merinda Roll said.

One of those kids who has been there for a number of years now is Jayden Webb.
Now a part of the under 14s, Webb starred this season and was named the side's best and fairest.
"He's been playing for four years and every year he's growing and he was a real standout from round one," Roll said.
At the other end of the spectrum is Cameron Healey.
Healey was a newcomer to the game but took to it like a duck to water leaving Roll and so many others around the region hugely impressed and it was no surprise when he took home Dubbo's under 12s best and fairest prize.
"He was runner-up for the league best and fairest and he had never played AFL before," Roll said.
"He was introduced to it in a five-week school development program run by (AFL Central West's) Casey White and got into it that way. He came along this season and took our best and fairest easily and it was great to see."
They were two of the club's big winners this season but there was also awards for the younger Auskick players as well as those who improved greatly this year, umpires, and the volunteers who put in the work behind the scenes.
Those volunteers had plenty on their plate this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 had a severe impact on the winter sporting season, it was no different for AFL Central West, but in the confusion and adjustments Roll was able to find positives.
"Everyone listened and learnt a lot. The season was amazing and really uniting for the club. Everyone had to dig deep," she said.
The club is now already looking at 2021 with the plan to form and under 17 boys side and a youth girls outfit, which is also in the under 17 age division.
And, in a hugely positive sign for the Dubbo Junior AFL, there is already plenty of backing for those sides.
"Eight major sponsors signed up already so that's a huge financial injection in these tough times," Roll said.
"They've come forward and that will help us get new jumpers and it tells me we're doing something right.
"I really thinking we're building in the community and make people aware AFL does exist and it does well."
Roll added she was greatly appreciative of those new sponsors as well as all those who supported the club during the 2020 season.
