Peter Frederick Humes, 67, faced Perth Magistrates Court on Friday accused of 11 child sex offences, including multiple counts of rape.
His application for bail was refused.
One of his alleged victims was identified as Annaliesse Ugle earlier in the week by her family members.
The 11-year-old took her own life, dying in Perth Children's Hospital on Tuesday.
WA Premier Mark McGowan has called her death a tragedy "beyond description".
"There'll be a full coronial inquiry into these matters and the child abuse squad is obviously continuing to investigate the matters," he said on Thursday.
Humes' next court appearance is scheduled for December 2.
