One year after Grace Brennan's idea to connect bush stores and creators in drought-hit towns with metro consumers burst on to social media, attracting 243,000 followers and changing lives, the momentum continues.

In the 52 weeks since Buy from the Bush's launch, the hashtag has been used 205,000 times on Instagram.

Posts in the feed come from NSW, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia.

Speaking from her home in the Warren district, Mrs Brennan said the frequency showed "what that hashtag can do to bring a community together for change".

She said the idea of marketing with a hashtag wasn't new, but "out here what it has done is connect this incredible talented bunch of business owners, in a way that I don't think was there before".

"...the community is growing and I think there's a force behind that and incredible collaborations are occurring as a result," she said.

"I think the more we can leverage this community of talent, the better and the hashtag is just the mechanism for doing that, for bringing people together.

"I met with a couple of bush businesses last week and somebody was saying to me how seeing the curated element of Buy from the Bush and being part of the community has inspired.

"She sees what other people are doing and doing so well, and she wants to make her Instagram feed look better and her work look better, and it's kind of a bench-marking tool for her, which I thought was interesting."

In its first four months Buy from the Bush helped generate $5 million for featured businesses, a portion of which hired workers, and started shipping interstate or overseas, and empowered female entrepreneurs, among other wins, analysis by AlphaBeta showed.
