Uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions, policing them, and the need to ensure community safety was key to the decision to cancel the annual race meeting which was scheduled for December 28.
The decision was made at last Friday's AGM and was announced on Tuesday.
The annual non-TAB meeting regularly attracted massive crowds and was a hugely popular social event for so many in the region.
"We understand the Trangie Picnic Races are a right of passage for many party-goers and will leave a huge hole in social calendars between the Christmas and New Year's period," a post on the club's Facebook page said.
"This regretful decision has not been taken lightly. However, due to current limitations and the uncertainty of restrictions in the future, we would be unable to run a successful event nor have the resources to hold an event of our size safely. The committee also strongly feels they have an obligation to keep the Trangie community safe."

The club added it was thankful to the sponsors and Trangie community for their support.
It also stated work was already being done to ensure the next meeting at the track would be a success.
