The second grade competition has expanded from six to eight teams this season, with Colts and South Dubbo now featuring two teams each.
Colts White and Colts Red started the season by playing out a low-scoring match on Saturday.
White was knocked over for just 91, Sam Abbott (4/16) doing the damage with the ball for Red, but it proved to be enough.
Colts Red was reduced to 6/22 at one point early in the chase before being knocked over for 73.
Opening bowlers Tom Masonwells and Bailey Collins took three wickets each for the victorious White side while Red's Tim Howarth scored a match-high 22 in the unsuccessful chase.
The season didn't begin smoothly for defending premiers Rugby, who suffered a 58-run loss to South Dubbo.
Veteran John Colwell took six wickets in the Hornets' victory but that came after Ryan George had set-up the win by making 88 not out.
George was well supported by Dale O'Donnell (41) as Souths posted 4/212 and then Colwell's haul resulted in Rugby being knocked over for 154.
Glen Shepherd made 47 for Rugby before and top-scored in the chase.
The newly-formed South Dubbo United began its time in the competition with a win on Saturday.
A multicultural side predominantly made up of players originally from the subcontinent who now call Dubbo home, United defeated Macquarie by four wickets at Lady Cutler 1.
Dharmendra Mepani and Yogi Chawla took three wickets each as Macquarie was knocked over for 129, with Ian Marchant's 32 the top score.
United was cruising at 1/80 in reply and while there were some wobbles late in the chase they still got the job done with minimal fuss.
Rajat Rai top-scored with 39 in the win while Akshay Wadhwa also contributed with 31.
Luke Patis' 3/24 gave the Blues hope at one point but there proved to not be enough runs on the board.
The final match of the round resulted in CYMS scoring a 35-run win over Newtown.
Cougars captain led the way for his side against a handy Newtown bowling attack, making 74 not out in a total of 4/148.
The Tigers bowlers never allowed the Cougars to really get on a roll and Malachi Dutchke was the pick of the pick of the bunch as he finished with 1/17 from his eight overs.
While the total wasn't a massive one it proved enough for CYMS as the Tigers were dismissed for 113.
New ball bowler Sam Knaggs (3/23) was destructive early and sent CYMS on its way to victory while Jed and Beau McIntosh chimed in with two wickets each in the win.
Greg Kerr was the best of a beaten bunch as he top-scored with 44 in the Tigers' chase.
In the weekend's RSL-Kelly Cup third grade opening round the first century of the summer was scored.
Brayden McGhee passed triple figures on Saturday, helping CYMS Green to a strong RSL-Kelly Cup opening round win in the process.
McGhee dominated the Cougars' run chase, making an unbeaten 103 as his side reached RSL-Colts' total of 6/178 with eight wickets in hand.
Vraj Chauhan had earlier made 77 for Colts in what was a competitive total that proved not enough.
The Newtown Demons started their third grade season with a narrow win over South Dubbo Limes.
In a game that went to the final few overs the Demons scored a seven-run win.
Pete Morrison and Garry Finlay made half centuries in the Demons' total of 192 while Kieran Moore collected four wickets for Limes.
Tom Skinner then took four wickets for the Demons as half centuries for Mark O'Donnell and Fred Walford proved not enough for Limes.
Daniel Smith and Sam Ward each passed 50 for CYMS Green in the win over Newtown Rhinos.
Smith and Ward starred as Green reached the target of 177 with four wickets in hand.
Pradeep George made 80 for Rhinos.
Souths Lemons scored a tough win over Rugby in the other game.
Ram Haridharan (70 not out) and Tristan Ward (64) led Lemons to the seven wicket win after Rugby had earlier posted 5/181 from its 40 overs.
Haridharan also took 2/15 in a strong individual outing.
