At the September Council meeting on Monday night, Cr Grant requested an internal Dubbo Regional Council review of the facility be undertaken to look at its current use, lease agreement and asset condition report.
It will all be done in conjunction with the current users of the facility, such as the race club.
"It is one of the larger facilities in the Wellington area and it probably is underutilised. It would be good to understand what is being done at this facility and how we can link it with the Dubbo Showground as well as the other facilities in the area to get some better utilisation out of the facility," Cr Grant said.

"We've got the NSW budget coming up and it would be good to let the government know we're looking into this facility and looking for some extra money, that's part of the reason of bringing this forward as well."
Dubbo mayor Ben Shields said a plan would help council to attract funding for the facility.
"I can't fund any record of any sort of master plan for Wellington Showground," he said.
"In order to expand and improve and make Wellington Showground as best as it can be, we do need a master plan in place. We've seen that even with Dubbo Showground. Once the plans are in place, things start happening."
Cr Grant said the intention of the master plan was to develop some strategic steps for the infrastructure and future use of the facility.
"We've obviously got to keep moving with the times as well as a council and continue putting projects on the table and keep putting those mater plans on the shelf. This is all part of that as well, getting plans in place for the future," he said.
A report on the review of the showground will be provided to council at the December meeting. Another report will be presented to the February 2021 meeting with potential funding opportunities for the facility.
