Mitchell's treatment has not been successful and the family are preparing to return home and make their final months together some of the most memorable.
Molly Croft, who was diagnosed with bone cancer on her 12th birthday and after recovering, has raised over $180,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, has also received $1000, as well as Dubbo Base Hospital paediatric nurse Prue McNamara who was nominated for the cheque by Molly's mum, Angela.
Organisations who received $1000 each included Michelle Redden from Connecting Community Services who will distribute four $250 gift cards to four community members who need it the most, as well as Wellington Arts and Dubbo Men's Shed.
Aussie Helpers Dubbo was surprised with a bonus $1000, receiving a total of $2000.
Aussie Helpers Dubbo coordinator Katie O'Brien, who was presented the cheque in person on the Today Show on Monday morning, said the money will go directly to local farmers who are struggling.
"We're so chuffed," she said.
"Any donation in these tough times really does make a difference and for our farmers to be thought of is just amazing," she said.
"They are such pivotal pieces to our economy and they work hard and for very long hours which nobody really ever sees."
Baker's Delight regional managers Tim Caunt and Marty Mason travelled to Dubbo on Monday where they met with Channel Nine's Today Show crew at the Rotunda.
Cheques were presented to some of the recipients in person at the Rotunda including Molly Croft, Prue McNamara, Dubbo Men's Shed president Kevin Sinclair, Mrs O'Brien and Durakai Smith's grandfather Harry West, who will all feature on television in an episode of the show.
