The four Rotary clubs of Dubbo have dipped into their coffers to help "lonely" and "anxious" clients of Meals on Wheels Dubbo find their way back into the community.

Meals on Wheels Dubbo service manager Peter English said the clubs' donation of about 200 masks would provide clients isolated because of the COVID-19 pandemic with some "peace of mind" when leaving the safety of their homes for the likes of appointments and shopping.

He told of elderly clients being "lonely" and "anxious" as a result of the pandemic.
"..anything to help reduce the anxiety of the elderly as well as protect them, I think is fantastic value for money," the manager said.
Meals on Wheels Dubbo staff member Nicole Shanks approached the presidents of the four clubs after recognising the need of clients for masks.
The Rotary Club of Dubbo, Rotary Club of Dubbo Macquarie, Rotary Club of Dubbo West and Rotary Club of Dubbo South have together spent about $2000 buying about 200 masks made by members of Can Assist Dubbo and Pink Angels.
Mr English said the generous donation was complemented by the efforts of two wives of Rotary Club of Dubbo West members.
Faye McLellan and Di McKeowen had made about 130 masks for Meals on Wheels Dubbo clients, he said.
Mr English said Meals and Wheels Dubbo clients were welcoming the gift of a mask.
"The mask is giving them a bit of freedom," he said.
