The annual awareness day supports and celebrates diversity within young people from the LGBTIQA+ community.
Skillset Senior College is an innovative high school that focuses on students' education as well as their wellbeing and personal achievement.
Organiser Jono Hosking, who is a PDHPE and History teacher at the Bathurst campus, said the aim of the Wear It Purple Day was to raise awareness of LGBTIQA+ suicide prevention.
As well as a barbecue, staff and students took part in a colour run.
"As a very inclusive environment we wanted to show that for all our students. Regardless of gender, sexuality and culture." he said.
"We thought it would be a fun way to do something that shows our pride and our acceptance."
