The Fusion Fire are relishing hard-fought victory over the closest inter-club rivals, the Fusion Heat on the weekend.
The Fire downed the presumptive title favourites and three-time premiership holders in a back and forth affair that saw the Fire claw back the lead from a narrow deficit.
The Fire's Abbie Merritt said the result was incredibly hard fought and could easily have 'gone either way'.
"We were lucky enough to get the win in the end, the score was just going up and down, up and down through the whole game," Merritt said.
Merritt said the narrow win was just another example in how much closer the competition for the premiership had become this year.
"It has been a really tough competition, the top four teams in the competition this year are all doing really well, we've had some pretty tough outs against Narromine and Inspire recently," Merritt said.
"It's definitely going to be a close semi-finals round come that time, all the games there should be really good, which'll be good for everyone."
Despite the Fire being down points after both the first, second and heading into the third, the side were able to dig themselves back out of their points deficit and take back the lead in the game's latter stages.
"It's hard to pinpoint the exact moment we got back in control, we were even down by five at one stage, so to turn it around like that is great."
The Fire rocketed back into the lead and held off the Heat to keep the score at 45 - 40 by full time on the back of a strong all-round effort.
"Everybody in our team really stepped up, from the defensive side to our mid-court side," Merritt said.
"Payton Reynolds shot really well on the weekend for us which was great, but even just the tips in the mid-court and turning over the ball in rebounds, it all worked well for us."
Elsewhere in the competition, the Macquarie Hornets defeated the Dubbo Rhino Rebels, while the St Comebacks beat St Diamonds and Inspire Panthers edged out the Narromine Hawks.
In the next round, the Fusion Fire will take on the St Comebacks, while Fusion Heat will look to bounce back against the Inspire Panthers.
