Six-year-old Durakai Smith remains in Sydney's Westmead Children's Hospital following a serious incident on the weekend.

Durakai's mother Briane said her son remains in an induced coma after undergoing surgery on Wednesday to fix some of the broken bones he had sustained.
Mrs Smith said she is incredibly thankful for the support the family has received, but is asking for the families privacy to be respected.

"We request that only immediate family call and visit as our family will now need to stay indoors due to COVID-19 and take every precaution necessary," she said.
"Glen and I would like to say thank you to everyone, but please understand that our family are here with our girls and it is getting hard for our family to respond to everyone."
"We will try to update everyone when we can, as we know you're all patiently waiting for our cheeky man to wake up.
"We love you all so much and we are forever thankful for the support."
A Gofundme Page was set up by family friend Rebecca Wells to accumulate funds in which will enable the family to remain by Durakai's side.
The fundraiser has raised more than $27,000 as at 3pm Thursday through more than 300 donors.
