Mrs Taylor has been walking 10,000 steps each day to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, by taking part in its August Step Up to Breast Cancer challenge.
According to National Breast Cancer Foundation research has found that physical activity reduces the risk of breast cancer for women with a family history of the disease.
Mrs Taylor was diagnosed with breast cancer eight years ago and underwent chemotherapy, plus had extra treatment and had a double mastectomy.
She has been involved in many fundraisers and events to raise funds for breast cancer research, including the City to Surf challenge.
Locally, Mrs Taylor and other breast cancer survivors meet up every Wednesday and go for a walk along the river, something they have been doing for about two years, which is helping her meet the 10,000 daily steps target.
"As well as being a physical exercise it's very support," Mrs Taylor said of the group.
"Most of us have known one another for a few years so it's a good way to check in..."
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Mrs Taylor said she and the other participants of the Dubbo walking group often think of the friends lost to breast cancer.
Her goal for the Step Up to Breast Cancer challenge is $200, but says it's not about the money, but more about raising funds that go towards research that will ultimately lead to a cure.
"I know times are tough at the moment and everyone is struggling, so I didn't put a big goal," Taylor said.
"It (a cure) is probably more important to me now..."
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation 55 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every day and eight women will die every day from the disease.
One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and one in 675 men will be diagnosed.
Mrs Taylor is also a member of the Dubbo Dragon Boat Club and next month will be part of another challenge that will see clubs across the central west take part in a challenge with funds going to the Cancer Council.
