Buy from the Bush, which helped generate $5 million in sales for featured businesses in its first four months according to one economic study, has turned its attention to Father's Day.
The social media movement that has amassed 240,000 followers on Instagram is suggesting beautiful wares to buy from rural stores and makers.
Buy from the Bush founder Grace Brennan of the Warren district is encouraging people looking to buy a Father's Day gift to browse the options from the country.
"We recently sent out our 'Father's Day Five', a brief gift guide from the bush," she said.
"It's a great way for us to remind our followers that they can connect with beautiful things via our Instagram feed and purchase gifts with unique stories of origin."
An example was the "stunning handmade knife" from Julian Suitor near Bungendore whose business had been significantly impacted by bushfire and now coronavirus, she said.
Another gift idea was hand-crafted leather braces from family-owned business Kent Saddlery in Stanthorpe, Queensland.
Another idea is from a store located at Walgett, in the Orana region.
The champion of rural communities suggests consumers can spread hope during a new difficult time, just as they did in the lead-up to Christmas as the drought tightened its grip.
"I think there may be some growing uncertainty at the moment," Mrs Brennan said.
"The spike [in COVID-19 cases] in Victoria has dramatically impacted Victorian businesses and bush accommodation offerings.
"The feedback we are getting from them is that it is a very difficult time.
"There is also awareness of the opportunity that lies ahead for rural Australia as more Australians look for authentic travel experiences while international travel is suspended.
"The immediate aim for many is to simply survive this period of uncertainty and possibly reap the benefits longer term of domestic tourism."

Mrs Brennan said Buy from the Bush had heard from many businesses who were focusing more energy on their online presence and trying to keep their followers and customers engaged through creating good content or offering good service, for example.
Buy from the Bush is going to be posting various Father's Day suggestions and have a highlights reel on its Instagram feed so people can find them easily.
Mrs Brennan encouraged bush businesses to use the #bushfathersday hashtag.
Father's Day is on Sunday September 6 this year - 24 days away.
