"The course really helped me," said the woman who has already completed the course. "I was feeling very insecure and had collected items and clutter in my home."
The federally-funded Buried in Treasures helps people address hoarding and their inability to discard possessions.
Catholic Healthcare's hoarding and squalor team will run the new 15-week program which consists of weekly two-hour online group workshops for people over 50 years old.
It is based on a self-help book and focuses on building skills, changing the way people think about possessions and providing progressive challenges to help participants manage clutter.
"One-on-one home visits" are an optional part of the course for participants needing help in implementing skills and techniques learned in the group sessions.
