Following the arrest of a man over the death of Michelle Bright on Tuesday night, the streets of Gulgong have turned yellow and purple on Wednesday to honour the then 17-year-old and show support for her family.

Purple and yellow balloons appeared in bursts throughout the main streets, with some residents even wearing the colours themselves.

Following extensive investigations, Strike Force Mitcham II detectives arrested a 53-year-old man near Mudgee about 9.30pm on Tuesday, August 11.
Craig Henry Rumsby was taken to Mudgee Police Station and charged with murder, two counts of inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse with victim and attempt choke/strangle with intent to commit indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear at Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday.
