Held at the ever-popular River St, Dubbo Regional Council Facility the round featured quality riding throughout.
A Grade again saw the trio of Danny Barber, Kurt Eather, and Dylan Eather give a one lap head start to the rest of the field. Riding a consistently fast pace they were able to make up the lap and go past the main bunch to finish first, second and third.
B grade has been one of the most closely matched fields this season. With strong representation from the mountain bike community the ability to attack and counter attack makes for great viewing for the spectators. Triathlete Craig May, sprint rider Sam Fitzgerald and World Masters Champion Darrel Wheeler all bring excellent pedigree to this quality field. Simon Heppell made a couple of attempts to break away during this race but was reigned in. But his effort on the final lap saw him take victory, and a likely move into A Grade.
C Grade was a case 'if you talk the talk you have to walk the walk'. Vaugh Eather, a recently named finalist in the Sports NSW Coach of the Year Awards donned the helmet to show he can practice what he preaches. Eather controlled the pace of the bunch to unleash his sprint on the final lap to ride to victory.
The feature race of the day was the combined D and E grade. E grade is providing riders, who may be less competitive in nature, the opportunity to ride the crit tack in a supported environment and absolutely no pressure. Having spent many recent years supporting their children ride, the trio of Janette Eather in first, Jodie Barber in second and Julie Farr in third, rode very well in the cold conditions. Mike Evans and Craig Grainger finished first and second in the D Grade category while also offering support and advice to the other riders ensuring all could enjoy the experience.
New riders are welcome to E Grade and experienced Michelle and Lauren Fuller and Warwick Campbell will join this weekend.
Some of the clubs best junior riders braved wet conditions in Sydney on the weekend to ride the Tour of Sydney and NSW Junior Criterium Championships. Isabelle Russell was again a star claiming two second places in the U15 women's category. Imogen Fuller recovered from a fall mid-way through the Sydney tour but recovered to finish seventh while Makayla Fuller finished in eighth. Tom Williamson has taken his great local form to Sydney and he finished in 12th place in the U15 men's.
Local racing starts on the criterium circuit for A Grade at 1pm on Saturday with entries vie entryboss.cc.
