Played in very cold conditions it seemed that expansive play was not on the agenda of either side which set the scene for a slogging affair for the majority of the round four match.
There were however some moments of attacking flair on show, none more spectacular than a try to Dunedoo's centre Will Wood who leapt high to latch on to a well placed bomb and then stretch out to plant the ball over the try line to lock the scores up at 12-all just prior to half time.
Both sides were guilty of sloppy handling but it was perhaps Dunedoo's poorer performance in that regard, combined with a good deal of ill discipline throughout the match, that finally lead to their demise in a hard fought contest.

The Swans opened the scoring in the 12th minute when their centre Nathan Orr went on a blockbusting run down the right flank that saw him trample over the Gilgandra defence and with Dan Lane's sideline conversion successful it was the home side up by six.
The Panthers replied eight minutes later when five-eighth Brandon Hammond ran on to a great pass from captain-coach Ash Hazelton following a scrum win and Hammond converted his own try.
Some seven minutes Gilgandra winger Mitch Bamblett grounded a grubber kick in goal to put his side in front 12-6 and then it was Wood's turn to get into the scoring action with his high flying leap with just three minutes remaining until the break to lock it up.
Dunedoo's handling woes continued as the battle resumed but the Panthers had to wait until 26 minutes of the second half had elapsed before they were able to crack the defence courtesy of their second rower Keiren Hazelton spearing on to a pass from close range to register a converted try and a six point lead for his side.
A second try to Bamblett eight minutes later, after Gilgandra had mounted sustained pressure on the Dunedoo defence, took the visitors out to the 22-12 final score.
At Coonamble, Cobar's hooker Jarrod Whitty made it seven tries in two matches when he touched down four times in the Roosters' big win over the Coonamble Bears.
The match was well and truly out of the home side's reach at half-time with the visitors dominating across the park. They led by 38 at the break before going on to register a 64-6 win which has the Roosters now level with the Swans on the ladder.
In league tag, a horror four minute period around the half-time break sealed the fate of the Gilgandra Pink Panthers.
It was 0-0 for the bulk of an absorbing first half against Dunedoo but just three minutes into the second half the Swans led 16-0.
A further try resulted in the match finishing at 20-0 but it was far closer than the score shows.
At Baradine, the home side was too strong for the visiting Binnaway Bombshells and won 60-10 while at Coonamble the Bears continued their strong recent form by downing Cobar 28-16.
Next weekend the first grade highlight will be at Cobar's Tom Knight Oval where the Roosters and the Dunedoo Swans meet in the battle of the birds to decide second spot on the ladder.
