Snow covered the region's higher parts, notably Mount Canobolas, thanks to a low pressure trough that deepened overnight and brought more rain to already saturated parts of the state.
The forecast was for snow as low as 1100 metres, but snow did fall in Orange as well, which is just below the 900 metre mark.
Orange recorded just 4.4 millimetres of rain over the course of the weekend, but coupled with the incredibly chilly conditions snow eventuated on Sunday morning.
Orange reached a top of 4.8 degrees Celcius on Sunday just after 1pm, and even then the feels-like temperature was sub zero - a mark the city shivered through for the majority of Sunday.
In Dubbo the temperature reached a top of 11 degrees, and there was no rain for the day by Sunday afternoon.
There were also reports of snow at Oberon.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued renewed its sheep graziers warning for the Hunter, Northern Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts.
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, heavy rain and showers and southeasterly winds are expected during Sunday and Monday.
Areas likely to be affected include the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts and parts of the Hunter, Northern Tablelands and South West Slopes forecast districts.
There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
