"With COVID-19 transmission evident throughout the community, Golf NSW and the PGA of Australia have made the difficult decision to reschedule the NSW Regional Open series scheduled for August and September," NSW Gold said in a statement.
"This decision is to protect both players and the regional communities around the host clubs from any possible COVID-19 transmission."
General manager of Golf at Golf NSW, Graeme Philipson said every effort would be made to ensure the tournament was rescheduled as soon and as safely as possible.
""We appreciate this decision will be disappointing news to many," Philipson said.
"However, remain assured we are working closely with all the stakeholders concerned to ensure the tournaments are rescheduled (COVID permitting) as soon as possible."
Golf NSW indicated that if the schedule permits, entries that have already been submitted 'may' remain as accepted for the rescheduled event.
Amateur competitors will be contacted by Golf NSW in due time to determine what refunds will be available for entry fees.
