Behind The Lines: The Year's Best Political Cartoons 2019 is an exhibition featuring works by Australia's leading political cartoonists.

Subtitled The Greatest Hits Tour, the exhibition borrows a "Battle-of-the-bands" analogy to represent the loud and noisy year of politics in 2019 both in Australia and overseas.

Dubbo Regional Council's cultural development coordinator Jessica Moore said curator Kent Buchanan had been busy working behind-the-scenes to bring this blockbuster exhibition to the WPCC.

"We're excited to be bringing this exhibition to the region," Ms Moore said.

"Some insightful cartoons always come out during election years, and 2019 yielded some top-notch laughs. Behind The Lines captures the story of the entire election year through humour, wit, and striking visuals, and it's great to see that even during trying times, our political cartoonists will always be ready with pen or iPad in hand."

Some of the cartoonists whose work will be included in the exhibition include Dean Alston, Warren Brown, Pat Campbell, Mark David and Christopher Downes.

There are more than 80 cartoons by over 30 political cartoonists being exhibited, and all of them have been published in national newspapers.

Behind The Lines is on display from August 8 until October 4.
