The theft occurred some time between July 21 and 29 this year from a property on the Castlereagh Highway at Gilgandra.
"The offenders cut fences and drove a vehicle onto the property to carry out the theft," state rural crime co-ordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.
"The tank is a blue coloured 25,000 litre Bushmans tank."
Detective Inspector Whiteside urged anyone with information to contact Gilgandra Police Station on 6847 8999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
