THE theft of 112 lambs from a property at Tallawang is under investigation with police calling on information from the public.
On Thursday, July 30, a large number of predominantly straight merino, and some merino cross lambs, were drafted at a Castlereagh Highway property ready for loading the following week.
"On the morning of Monday, August 3, the victims discovered 112 lambs missing from the Thursday count," NSW Police state rural crime co-orinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.
"The lambs were a mixed mob previously purchased from Western Australia."
Det Insp Whiteside has called on anyone with information about this theft to call rural crime investigators at Mudgee Police Station on 6372 8599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
So far this year, more than 10,000 head of stock worth at least $2.5 million have been stolen in NSW, but police believe the crime is under-reported.
