And two Sydney schools were closed on Tuesday after three students tested positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
NSW Health said there were 12 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 3,620.
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said the state's daily results was "good news" given what was happening in Victoria.
"We really do rely on the community doing the best for the rest of the community, and for themselves," he said, noting NSW residents' responses to self-isolation requests had been pleasing.
One of the new cases was a traveller in hotel quarantine and three were household cases acquired in Victoria.
The remaining eight of the cases were locally acquired but linked to known cases including one case linked to the Thai Rock restaurant Wetherill Park and two cases attended the Apollo restaurant in Potts Point.
Two cases attended Mounties, Mount Pritchard and three were linked to people who attended that venue.
NSW Health also advised that one student at Bonnyrigg High School and two students at Greenway Park Public School tested positive for COVID-19.
Contact tracing is underway, and all students will undertake lessons at home while both schools will be thoroughly cleaned, NSW Health said.
Two of these cases were notified after the reporting period, and will be included in tomorrow's numbers, but all three were linked to cases who attended Mounties, Mount Pritchard.
There were 12,876 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 18,823 the previous day.
There are now 103 cases associated with Thai Rock Wetherill Park cluster, 58 cases associated with the Crossroads Hotel cluster and 40 cases associated with the funeral events in Bankstown and surrounding suburbs, including 16 associated with Mounties in Mount Pritchard.
There are 28 cases associated with the Potts Point cluster, including 22 cases linked to the Apollo Restaurant cluster and six cases linked with the Thai Rock Restaurant Potts Point cluster (two cases attended both and are counted as Thai Rock cases).
NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said the state remained at a critical point in its response, and had two goals in the coming weeks.
"They are to bring an end to the current chains of transmission that our detectives are tracking down... and recognise any cases in the community that are occurring," she said.
She said this meant people needed to come forward with any symptom, and keep up to date with the lists of venues where transmission had occurred.
"Everyone has a role to play in our response, business, government and the community. It is critical that you maintain your social distancing, and that you wear a mask where you're not going to be able to maintain that 1.5 [metre distance between others]."
Meantime, in Victoria there were 439 new cases reported, and 11 more people - all linked to aged care - have died in the past 24 hours.
