Landscaping is currently underway and furniture for the centre has been ordered.

Maranatha Gunyah's childcare director Dixie Robinson has firm faith in the centre's future in inter-generational care because she believes it will truly benefit the community.

The centre will be built alongside the existing Maranatha House aged care facility, and Ms Robinson is excited for Maranatha Gunyah's future when it finally opens its doors.

The importance of the centre lies in its unique purpose for inter-generational care and learning between the children and elderly residents.

"We want the kids to have interaction with the residents because that gives them stimulation," Ms Robinson explained.

"In turn, the kids will get guidance from the residents."

Each morning, Ms Robinson envisages time spent between the generations doing singing, reading, craft and a host of other activities in a specially designed program.

She looks forward to hearing the laughter and experiencing the kindness that can be shared between dual generations.

"Having the kids here with the older people has a lasting effect, the interaction is something special," Ms Robinson said.
