Mrs Murray was in town on the weekend of July, 19 to see a relative at Dubbo Base Hospital, but as visitor numbers are restricted due to COVID-19, decided to fill in some time down Macquarie Street.

She popped into the Riverdale Shopping Centre for a quick look at the shops and got to the front of Woolworths when the accident happened.

"When I walked in I'm just looking around and the next thing my feet went from under me," Mrs Murray said.

"I hit (the ground) hard."

Mrs Murray sustained a broken nose, black eye and her right shoulder was out of its socket.

"(Woolworths workers) came running out and they helped me... those girls they were amazing. They were on the phone within a jiffy..," Mrs Murray said describing the help she initially received.

"She got an ambulance and it wouldn't of been 10 or 15 minutes and they arrived."

The 80-year-old was placed on a stretcher and taken to Dubbo Base Hospital.

"The attention I got was amazing," Mrs Murray said of the paramedics, plus the doctors and nurses in the emergency department who treated her.

She stayed one night at Dubbo Base Hospital before being allowed to go home and is currently on the mend.

Just this week, the brace for her arm was taken off and she has rehabilitation exercises to complete.

"I am feeling a lot better but still very sore in places," Mrs Murray said.

"I'm very restricted in movements..."

Her words to those who helped were "thank you, thank you, thank you."

"My thank yous are necessary because all of those people, at the worst moment of my life, were so helpful. It was unbelievable, I could not have asked for anything better," Mrs Murray said.

Woolworths Rivedale Store Manager Gai Hicks wished Mrs Murray a speedy recovery.

"Our Riverdale team cares deeply for our local customers and community. What Candice and Jayde did to comfort and help the customer is a testament to this spirit and we're proud of their efforts," Ms Hicks said.
