And after just two rounds it's clear to see we need to have a word with both sides as things this column pointed out last week were not followed.
But there was still a lot to like, especially for fans of the side in sky blue.
THE GOOD
Roos
Plenty. Back-to-backs wins to start a season isn't something the Roos have been all too familiar with in recent times but the first grade side and women's teams both look in ominous form early in the 2020 campaign.
The men's scrum is looking particularly strong and they went to it at nearly every chance in Saturday's win over City while the women's backline was devastating in its 100-0 demolition of the Lions.
The returning Filisione Pauta is also starting to look more at home with the Roos while the slug-fest in the rain at City showed the Dubbo side can do it tough as well as flashy, as they showed in the round one victory over Bulldogs. Two big ticks to start the season.
Rhinos
Unfortunately, not a whole heap. But the effort was there again and it's got to be admired. Especially from the side's new and younger players.
The Rhinos began brightly against the Parkes Boars and were looking good but once things started to go against them they slipped into some bad habits.
The other good news on the day was the positive update on Kevin Greenway's injury. The match against the Boars was called off early as an ambulance had to be called for Greenway, who was down and there was some concern as the knock was around the neck area.
But it was only a soft tissue injury and he may only be out for the two weeks.
THE BAD
Roos
Macca, come on. We didn't think it would be you. Last week we pointed out how big men shouldn't be kicking in play after Chris Anderson tried to dart along the touch line and kick for himself only to put it into touch.
On Saturday it was Roos captain and experienced campaigner Shaun McHugh's turn as he went to kick from the back of the scrum but it all went pear-shaped.
He had a laugh after the game and said it would be his last kick of the season. Hopefully the rest of those forwards are listening.
Speaking of kicking, Saturday's win would have been a whole lot more comfortable had Jake Styles had his aim right.
Styles missed one conversion from virtually in front while he also had a shot at a penalty goal hit the posts. Those five points would have made things a whole lot more comfortable.
Rhinos
The big worry is the side slipped back a little into the Rhinos of old on Saturday.
Competitive but once things go against them structure and discipline goes out the window. Jovilisi 'Tiger' Tawake was shown a yellow and then red for chatting back to the referee while the Boars' Luke Bevan was able to put away penalty goals to put his side in control.
It's been spoken about at length within the club and was mentioned in this column last week but if the Rhinos are to be any chance of climbing up the ladder it's as much about discipline and attitude as it is about execution.
Things don't get any easier next week as they will meet a Narromine side stinging after a loss to Mudgee on Saturday.
