It's been a tough few weeks for Mitchell Beer but the Albury trainer was able to smile when he scored a win in his very first race at Dubbo Turf Club on Friday.

Beer was forced to make the trip north to Dubbo for the first time after the closure of the Victorian border caused havoc with his stables.
Beer and his team would normally have targeted Saturday's meeting at Wodonga, a track roughly 10kms from his own stables, but that can't happen so he had to look at Dubbo instead.
But the trip of more than 500kms was worthwhile as he collected more than $11,000 when the impressive Previso scored a first career win.
The promising two-year-old went into the Signvision Maiden Handicap (1320m) having scored two placings in three career starts and he scored his first win in strong fashion.
Ridden by Jordan Mallyon, Previso ($2.25 favourite) won by almost half-a-length from Tank Attack ($4.20) after finishing well along the outside.
Beer had three hopes at Dubbo and his other pair - Jawwaal and Zaberfeldie - finished third and fourth respectively in what was a solid day out for the trainer.
The outside was where the bulk of the winners came from home on Friday, with the Michael Mulholland-trained Sledgehammer also flying home close to the rail.
The win on Friday might have been Beer's first at Dubbo but later in the meeting Kath Bell-Pitomac rode her third win at the track in as many weeks.
Mulholland combined with the in-form apprentice Kath Bell-Pitomac to take out the Dubbo RSL Club Resort Class 2 Handicap (1620m) with The Sledgehammer ($5).
A last winner at Warren, The Sledgehammer made it two on the trot when powering home late to nab victory from Mr Plow ($3.50 favourite).
The Sledgehammer arrived at Mulholland's stables having scored one win in 18 starts.
It also continued the strong run of results for Bell-Pitomac.
She rode a double at the last Dubbo meeting late last month while there's also been wins at Warren and Cowra since then.
