Saturday saw big fields again at the Dubbo Regional Cycling Facility in River St and the new facility means riders can take part in the criterium racing, which uses the 1km, road like circuit.
The weekend's A Grade event featured riders from Sydney and the Central Coast make the tip to take on the hometown club's well-known stars.
And it was those stars who delivered in a huge way.
Kurt Eather, Danny Barber and Dylan Eather were so strong on the weekend they ended up finishing a lap up on the field in first, second and third.
This weekend's racing may see them give a lap start to the rest of A Grade. This will make it exciting for spectators as the trio, who are some of the best young riders in the country, attempt to catch a highly credentialed remainder of the field.
The B Grade field saw experienced campaigners in Darrell Wheeler, and up and coming stars like Zara Fuller, take on a large cohort of the Dubbo's mountain biking stars. A break away by Craig Lennox and Trent Hines saw them take top spots while Sam Fitzgerald led home the bunch to sprint for third.
C Grade was a mix of youth and experience. The hard working Craig Grainger and Bill Williamson battled it out with the younger riders. It was Tom Williamson who continued his great form to win the race from father, Bill, while Imogen Fuller finished in third. Jacen Huggett finished first in D Grade, riding as part of the C Grade race.
Racing this Saturday, July 18, will return to the River St facility and will feature an added E Grade.
E grade will be used to allow those not as competitive to race and ride, using the excellent facilities. There are already a number of entries for this grade so if COVID-19 had resulted in you riding your bike for exercise, come and try racing in the safe, supported environment.
There is also a junior grade for the younger riders. The criterium track is ideal for the younger rider.
Those new to racing can also take advantage of the 'Race your Mate' promotion.
'Race your mate' allows two weeks members and free entry into racing.
Those interested can visit https://cycling.org.au/nsw/racing/returntoracing for more information about the two-week membership.
Racing starts at 1pm on Saturday.
The high intensity A Grade is first up. People are welcome to ride to the track, race and ride home, or drive down, park next to the track and watch the entire afternoon's racing from the comfort of a car.
