All three matches across the opening round feature 1-all stalemates, adding to clubs' eagerness to get themselves on the winning side of the scoreboard this weekend.

And in the case of Panorama they'll be looking to turn around a pre-season trial loss against Barnies.

But manager Brent Osbourne said that trial feels like it almost took place in a different era and that it's wrong to read much into the way that game played out.

"They got the better of us in a pre-COVID trial but I don't think you can read into that too much. It was a pretty even game but we had a bad 10 minutes when we let three goals in," he said.

"Outside of that it was a pretty even game and we played 40 minutes against them two Wednesdays ago, before the game was cut short due to an injury to one of their players, but it was a pretty even contest.

"We know we're good enough to win the game. They've got a good striker up front and quality in the likes of Jackson Fuda and Duncan Logan in the middle of the park. If we neutralise those boys we've got enough quality to come out of the game with three points.

"It'll be a tight contest so the boys have got to turn up."

Barnstoneworth are expected to be one of the competition's strong forces having taken out the local Orange first grade competition.

But the Goats have reason to back their own ability after their first outing.

Osbourne said it was exciting for the club to get off the mark last weekend against Dubbo Bulls.

"We were flying blind before that first game," he said.

"We'd played Barnies in pre-season and we're obviously familiar with Lithgow but all the Dubbo teams and Parkes we really had no idea about them.

"We were really pumped after the weekend. We thought we were the better team but we just couldn't snatch the points. I feel like in a couple of weeks' time we'll kill of a game like that, for sure."

After facing such an unknown quantity admirably there's been a noticeable boost in confidence among the Goats' camp, according to Osbourne.

He said to take a point in a tough first round away trip has galvanised the squad ahead of their first home clash.

"We've got quite a young team and last weekend showed that they deserve to be there and they're more than good enough to do well in this competition," he said.

"The first 15 minutes were a little nervy as they were unsure of what to expect but they found their form as they went into it.

"We were strong defensively. James Cox and Nath Davis at the back were fantastic and as the weeks go on we'll start to put some more combinations together in the final third."

The match between Panorama and Barnies gets underway from 3pm at Proctor Park 1.

In the round's other games Macquarie United plays host to Lithgow Workies, who get their campaign started after a round one bye.

Parkes Cobras welcome the Bulls to town while Orana Spurs have the bye.
