I am going to do an experiment.
If one has been classically trained in ballet and dabbled in jazz, tap and taught belly dancing, can one easily transition to ballroom dancing, in particular, jive, fox trot and rock n' roll?
I'm about to find out.
I've enrolled in the four week dance course being taught at Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) by Fantasy Dance sport tutors, Cassandra and Kim Tongue.
The lessons are being held in the lead up to the season show in August, Club Soda.

Kim assures me that the course design is suitable for beginners as well as those who show prowess on the dance floor.
The aim is to meet people, socialise safely and learn something new in spacious surrounds.
All you need to do is book in before the first class on Sunday 12 July at 4 pm.
You will receive a course discount if you buy your Club Soda tickets, otherwise you can do the course on its own.
With current statutory guidelines for function centres, we are easily able to accommodate this refreshing cabaret on Saturday, August 22, infused with toe-tapping swing numbers from the Tin Roof Big Band, dance, magic and vaudevillian comedy.
There will be a dance floor for couples to trip the light fantastic.
Swing dance is characterised by lots of swinging, flipping and throwing of dancers (which we won't be doing) but because it is a non-progressive dance style mostly performed in one spot - it's a popular style of dance for a COVIDSafe dance floor!
I'm looking forward to kicking up my heels each Sunday - my partner, not so much.
Who knows I might even invest in some sparkly shoes like those on Dancing with the Stars for the big night.
So break a leg... Actually, let me rephrase that, all the best with moving those hooves to groove to new moves!
For more information, to book your spot in the class or tickets to the upcoming Club Soda, you can visit the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre Box Office on Darling Street or visit the website www.drtcc.com.au.
Club Soda will be presented on August 22.
