Youth mental health organisation batyr is holding free, digital workshops on August 8 and 9 for the Central West.

Being Herd is a two-day workshop for people between 18 and 30-years-old.

By sharing their story with their peers, batyr hopes participants can build their confidence and recognise their experience is worthy of being heard.

In past workshops, some of the participants have gone on to become speakers with the organisation, sharing their stories with other young people in batyr's peer-to-peer programs.

Lauren Parker said attending the workshop helped her to put together a timeline of her mental health journey.

"It helped me recognise that my experiences are not just "things that happened" but a story - a story that I own now," Ms Parker said.

"My lived experiences are now something I can use in productive, helpful ways to help other young people."

The organisation has also developed a regional speaker training program, specifically designed for young people to feel confident in sharing their story at schools within their community.

Fi Higgins said the "empowering" training showed her the potential impact her story had, while reminding her about all of the positive experiences she had had during a difficult time.

Batyr chief executive officer Nic Brown said it was a tough time for many but they wanted to make sure the workshops were free and accessible.
