Earlier this week we ran a story on toilet paper flying off the shelves again.

The story went on social media, where I then watched the comments come through.
It's the 'media's' fault that people are hoarding toilet paper - apparently.
Because we are reporting on what's happening, it's our fault it's happening.
But if we don't report on what's happening (which is the role of the media) then we are told we are missing something, and not doing our job (reporting on what's happening).
Who can win?!?
We felt this was an important story to tell this week - no it might not be the hardest hitting news, but the why in the background was the important part of the story - people are doing it because they are seeing it done elsewhere, but talking to Dubbo Ashcrofts IGA store manager Pat O'Neill its not something we have to do - did you see the photo in the background.
People need to calm down, stop their hoarding, and probably think before they comment.
Or maybe the role of 'the media' (because we are all lumped together) is changing?
Should we not be reporting on what's happening in our town anymore? Maybe we should instead be reporting on something else?
But, that's not the plan. We plan to keep bringing you local and regional news each day ... want to know what's happening somewhere? Send us a question and we will find out.
Have a great Sunday everyone,
