FEMALES were keenly sought after among the 930 head yarded at Dunedoo store cattle sale on Wednesday last week with first-calver cows with calves at foot making a top of $2650 a unit.

The sale was again conducted in conjunction between Dunedoo's Milling Stuart and Dubbo's PT Lord Dakin and Associates.
Lachlan Croake of Milling Stuart reported a strong sale with buyers competing from Coonamble, Dubbo, Orange, Forbes, Mudgee, Scone and locally.

"The PTIC cow section was a touch dearer than last month's sale, but quality related," he said.
"However, the better quality cattle overall sold to a firm to dearer market while secondary lines were slightly cheaper."
Weaner steers sold to $900 while higher prices were received for yearlings up to $1425 a head for a pen of Angus 13 to 15 months from the Wiseby Family, Botobolar near Mudgee.
Yearling heifers made from $800 to $1230 for an Angus draft.
PTIC heifers were solidly backed making from $1600 to $1830 for a line of Queensland-bred Charolais-crosses sold for Spring Creek Agriculture.
PTIC cows made up to $2050 for a pen of eight from Bulliroy Creek Pastoral Company, Dunedoo, going to the Coolah district.
First-calver heifers with calves at foot sold from $2300 to a top of $2650 a unit for a draft of 28 Angus from Birkalla Partnership, Dunedoo.
OIder cows with calves topped the section at $2500 for a pen of Shorthorn-crosses with two month-old calves at foot offered by Hayden Rhodes, Dunedoo.
