Films will return to the city's Reading Cinemas complex on Thursday after a three-month closure forced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Action adventure comedy Sonic the Hedgehog is one of nine films across a variety of genres to screen on the opening day.
Also on the program are Love Sarah, The Personal History of David Copperfield, Bloodshot, Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs, Samsam, Spies in Disguise, The Current War and The Invisible Man.
The cinema will have limited seating capacity and is advising patrons to book online.
The downtown cinema is not the only place to see a movie at the weekend.
Dubbo Westview Drive-In will show Shrek 2 on Friday with gates opening at 5.30pm.
Then on Saturday car enthusiasts are being encouraged to bring out their pride and joy for 2019 film Ford v Ferrari.
Ticket holders can arrive from 3pm with the movie starting at 6pm on Saturday.
Visitors or people just wishing to come and check out the cars are welcome to attend from 3-5pm for $5.
