Just after 5:30am two trucks from the Dubbo station attended the house on Collins Avenue.
The house was vacant at the time and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue NSW Dubbo station said the house had been boarded up and was likely undergoing renovations.
"When we showed up the house was well alight and took quite some time to extinguish as there was a lot of smoldering patches inside the house," the spokesperson said.
"There's quite a lot of damage that's been done to it.
"We would like to remind people to call triple-0 if they see a fire.
"This incident was actually called in by an ambulance officer who was on his way out on a job at the time."
Fire and Rescue NSW also reminded residents to ensure they had working fire alarms in all levels of their houses.
