An elderly driver of a red 4WD has been escorted to Dubbo Hospital by ambulance after a head-on collision in Dubbo on Thursday.

Just after 2pm on Thursday afternoon police and ambulance were called to the intersection of Thompson Street and Mitchell Highway after reports of a head-on collision involving two vehicles.
Both drivers were elderly.
The passenger of the 4WD, an elderly man, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after sustaining facial injuries caused by his airbags being deployed.
Police believe the 4WD was entering Mitchell Highway upon when it collided with an oncoming vehicle just before the railway tracks.
Investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing.
