It reopened on June 19 and Dubbo Escape Room owner Peter Brunner said the time being closed was "frustrating" as they had not only just completed renovations but were not able to earn an income in that time.
"COVID hit and it (bookings) were all gone. We were at the point where the business was really starting to take off and now we've got rebuild," he said.
"We converted the place into three Escape Rooms and we were just starting to really take off and we had a lot of big corporate bookings... and then all of that got cancelled."
The Brunner family first opened the Dubbo Escape Room in late 2017.
Now that they're able to reopen and welcome back customers, Mr Brunner said there are a few things in the pipeline, which includes retiring one of the older rooms to introduce a new room.
"It's good now (with restrictions lifting) that people have got something else to do," he said.
Before they were able to reopen they put in place a COVID Safe plan, which has been submitted to and accepted by the government.
There is also an abundance of hand sanitisers, signage and gloves for people who wish to use them while playing and a new, touch free check-in system.
"We've reduced the capacity of our rooms to meet the four square metre rule mark," Mr Brunner added.
"We have also reduced our appointment schedule to reduce groups coming into contact with one another and we've increased times between groups so we can go in and sanitise rooms."
The Escape Room owner said players have been very understanding of the new rules in place.
Now that they are able to reopen, for the rest of 2020 Mr Brunner said they will look to consolidate and get back into advertising to let people know what an Escape Room actually is.
"And next year we will focus on getting the new room in... and probably work a bit more on our pop-up Room," he said.
