Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana has received a pat on the back for its support of communities and businesses in the region during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The federal government's Assistant Minister for Regional Development Nola Marino said RDA Orana had surveyed residents to obtain data which could be used to "inform decision-making by governments and local stakeholders".

"The information gained through these surveys has led to the establishment of a number of industry-specific action groups which are now driving business recovery tailored to the needs of each industry," Ms Marino said.
She said RDA Orana had also advised of support available to businesses through workshops, blogs, social media, emails and direct contact.
"Led by acting chair Mr Brad Cam, RDA Orana's engagement with their community, businesses and all levels of government has been vital in identifying emerging issues throughout the crisis and opportunities for the recovery phase," Ms Marino said.
In response, Mr Cam praised the work of the RDA Orana team for its "efficient response" to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I am pleased that we have been at the forefront of the efforts being made to sustain economies and assist communities during this unprecedented time in the world," he said.
