Now that Dubbo Sportsworld is opening up he can do that again, and even more.

The muli-use indoor facility has been one of the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, with general manager King forced to closed the doors back in April.

But with restrictions easing things are starting up again, with the regular weekly competitions to start back up from July 2.

There is now even more attractions at the centre as well, with a golf simulator giving players the chance to refine their game or try their luck at courses all over the world as well as a newly-formed pickleball court.

"We've got the golf simulator, which is proving to be of a lot of interest and it's highly recommended by the golfers who havecome here and trialled it," King said.

"Then we're offering the little sport called pickleball. It's a cross between table tennis, badminton, and tennis and it's gone crazy in the US and Canada ... it's very orientated towards social participation.

"It's simple and older people can play while the young ones can still get competitive."

When using the golf simulator plays hit the ball into an interactive screen, which is also used for various children's games which are expected to be popular in the upcoming school holidays.

Inflatable world will also be up and running and birthday parties can again be hosted at the centre.

Providing that fun side of things is something King has always pushed to do and it was painful not to be able to during the lockdown.

There's numerous rules in place at Sportsworld now to ensure the centre is run in line with all health guidelines but the main thing is people from all corners of the community can now return to the courts.

"Even if the end result is elite achievement we've always concentrated on being semi-competitive in a social environment," he said.

"That's why we were hit so hard. We serve such a broad section of the community.

"And we try and come up with new things to cater to all people. We know some people need to get out and be social and we've worked hard on that."

The weekly competition is also returning with the eight-a-side cricket A grade draft series first up on July 2.

Rebound six-a-side netball starts back July 6 before the blitz six-a-side cricket divisions 1 and 2 starts from July 7.

Men's senior A and B grade basketball competitions are back from July 21, indoor soccer and seven-a-side women's division 1 and 2 netball from July 22, and mixed fast five unisex netball returns from July 23.
