At 5pm on Saturday, Parkes Highway Patrol detected a blue Holden Commodore travelling at 82km/h in a sign posted 50km/h residential area on Condobolin Road in Parkes.
Police stopped the vehicle and found a 38-year-old male from Condobolin to be the driver.
"During the vehicle stop, a search was conducted and police have found a large clear plastic bag containing cannabis (465 grams after being weighed) and three glass pipes used for administering ice," traffic and highway patrol officers said.
"The male was breath tested with a negative result and was subsequently arrested and conveyed to Parkes Police Station."
A 19-year-old female from Condobolin was also searched and a small, clear resealable plastic bag was found in her purse.
"The female made full admissions to it being cannabis and to being hers. Checks were conducted and she was subsequently issued with a court attendance notice for possession of a prohibited drug," officers said.
At the police station, the 38-year-old male was submitted to a drug swipe which returned a positive result to cocaine.
A secondary oral fluid test was conducted and returned a positive result to cocaine and methamphetamine. The male was issued with a prohibition notice for driving for 24 hours.
The male was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit over 20km/h and for Class A vehicle number plate not affixed.
"The male was issued the same infringement notices for committing the same offences plus a defect notice on the evening of June 12, 2020 by Parkes Highway Patrol," police officers said.
"The RMS are suspending the driver licence of the male in June 2020 for numerous other traffic offences."
The male was charged with:
- Supply prohibited drug (deemed supply)
- Possession of prohibited drug.
- Possession of drug implements.
In relation to the positive oral fluid sample, police said male will be sent the relevant charge paperwork upon police receiving the result from the laboratory in Sydney.
