Less than eight months after Mudgee sensationally attempted to join Group 11, the 2019 Group 10 runners-up have put forward a bid to join the Castlereagh League in a bid to get their players on the field this season.
The push comes in the wake of Group 10's announcement to abandon the 2020 senior season, and while several players individually are expected to try their luck in the Woodbridge Cup, Wallerawang Landscaping Mid-west Cup and Castlereagh League, the Dragons are the first to explore the chance of fielding a full team in another premiership race.
"We're keen to push forward with something this year," Dragons president Sebastian Flack said.
"It's too long of an off-season without footy for us. I've asked if we could enter the Castlereagh competition and if not, we plan on holding our nines competition at the end of the year."

While Flack and the Dragons are disappointed, they don't have an issue with the reasoning behind Group 10's ruling to call off 2020.
"We understand the Group's decision but we still have hope that we can find football for our seniors this year," he said.
"It's way too long of an off-season."
Flack's optimism appears justified after the NSW government gave all-age community sports the green light to return from July 1, that advice coming less than 12 hours after Group 10 entered uncharted territory by cancelling its top grade competition for the first time in over 70 years.
Despite the government ruling, Group 10 chairman Linore Zamparini isn't considering a reversal of their stance and insists the decision made is not only the right one, but one that clubs are understanding of.
If the Dragons' bid to join the Castlereagh League is a successful one, Mudgee would immediately be a serious premiership contender as they possess a wealth of talent such as Jack Littlejohn, Harry Siejka and Corin Smith.
