With restrictions beginning to ease in recent times the Louth Race Club president Jim Strachan and is committee was hopeful of running the outback event but it wasn't to be.

A message on behalf of the committee was posted to social media on Tuesday morning.

"Sadly, with less than two months to go, we have made the decision to call the races scheduled for August 8, 2020," it read.

"The health of our visiting punters, and all those living here in Outback NSW is of paramount importance to us. We do not want to put anyone's health at risk and we especially want to protect our own district and place the needs of our local communities first at this time.

"We hope you understand."

Crowds still aren't allowed at race meetings, with Dubbo's bumper Chamber of Commerce meeting on Friday to again be run behind closed doors.

A raft of picnic and non-TAB meetings have been cancelled because of that lack of income and it played a part in the Louth committee's decision, alongside the health risk.

The annual meeting at the village of less than 50 residents regularly attracts more than 5000 people.

The committee added it was thankful to all those who had worked to try and make the meeting a reality this year.
