I Am A Cool Kid had recently been scratched twice due to heavy turf on the tracks he'd been nominated at, with Williams not wanting to make the gelding's first run back in a year and a challenging surface.
And just as it looked like one of the region's top gallopers was about to finally get his chance to race again disaster struck at Friday's trackwork session.
I Am A Cool Kid bled from the nostrils for a second time, meaning under the provisions of Racing NSW he is now ineligible to start in a race or barrier trial in Australia.
It's a cruel blow to Williams and her stable after putting in countless hours of work to get the sprinter back to peak condition.
I Am A Cool Kid had been shaping up as a potential prospect for The Kosciuszko not just based on his overall form but also on his pair of excellent trials.
He flew home to win by four lengths in his ANZAC Day trial on his home track without having to be worked hard and it was a similar story at Wellington two weeks later when he comfortably won by three lengths.
The I Am Invincible gelding had never missed a top two finish and had racked up just short of $100,000 in prizemoney.
Williams will now turn her attention to Dubbo on Friday after nominating four hopes for the meeting.
