But after her boyfriend Daniel Schaefer, who operates barber shop Too Tapered, used his cutting skills to shave the back of her head she realised now was the perfect time to brave the shave.
"I thought if I'm going to do it (have a fully shaved head) I'm going to raise some money and do it for a good cause," Ms Ulgiati explained.
She will be shaving her head as part of the World's Greatest Shave to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. The shave will take place on June 26 at Too Tapered.

This year the Leukaemia Foundation will celebrate 22 years of the World's Greatest Shave, making it one of Australia's longest running and most loved fundraising events.
The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national organisation representing the needs of all people living with blood cancer in Australia.
Ms Ulgiati's fundraising efforts commenced on May 28 and she is already halfway to her target of $2000. But the Dubbo resident hopes to raise even more funds leading up to, and on the evening of the event.
During the night of Ms Ulgiati's fundraiser, people will still be able to donate and also purchase beanies made by her mother, which will go directly towards the charity.
Ms Ulgaiti said cancer has never personally touched her life, but that she has many friends whose families have been affected.
"I'm just someone that really feels for people going through that," she added.
"I've always wanted to do this (shave my head for cancer awareness). I had a friend in school whose mum had cancer and I wanted to do it then, but again, I was just too scared."

Ms Ulgaiti said she was "excited" for the shave and has received much support within the community.
"It's actually been quite surprising. Friends that I have, I didn't know they had somebody in their family with leukaemia or had lost somebody to leukaemia, and they have messaged me with their stories," she said.
"It's been nice to chat with them and hear how cancer has affected them."
