Another Plan (Wayne Wheatley, $4) backed up his win in the Narromine Picnic Trophy on May 16 with another gritty win in the Mallawa Picnic Trophy (1600m) run at Moree.
He defeated Crystal Billy (Ashley Boyd, $3.50) and Disgraceful (Brent Evans, $4.40).
Another Plan is prepared by trainer Garry Bignell and has now won nine of his 33 starts.
Two of those wins, as well as two placings, have come in the past five starts.
The picnic events may have been a little harder to find in recent times with the restrictions in place because of COVID-19 forcing a number of non-TAB meetings to be cancelled.
But Bignell has been able to find the right races for Another Plan and the six-year-old now sits on top of the NSW Picnic Championships with 25 points.
Racing NSW reported Another Plan is four clear of Hokkaido and Rogue Runner and has taken a huge step towards qualifying for the $50,000 final at Dubbo later this year.
Among the others to pick up valuable points at Moree were Beacon (7 points), He's Our Toy Boy (7), Policy (5), Mymill (5), I Am Dynamic (4), Crystal Billy (4), Master Cramsie (4), Moment of Hope (3), Blue Channel (3), About Time (3), Grass Cutter (2), Drummed Out (2), What Diddy Say (1), and Pullman Brown (1).
