A fire took hold of a car on a rural road to Dubbo's north-east on Saturday night, with volunteer firefighters called to duty.

The Boothenba Rural Fire Brigade responded to the car fire on Old Mendooran Road.
On arrival the car was well alight and members set to work to put the fire out, the brigade said in a post to social media.
A photo posted to social media by the brigade shows the blackened remains of a white late-model sedan.
The brigade thanked members who attended and officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District for their assistance.
