The multi-million dollar RFDS Visitor Experience became a local tourism hotspot when it first opened in September 2019, and helped create more than a dozen new jobs in Dubbo.

Due to the government's lockdown laws to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the facility was forced to close.

But with the easing of restrictions from June, 1, it is ready to welcome back locals and visitors from 9am.

The Outback Trek cafe will also reopen to seven days a week from that date.

John Larkin, head of tourism said all the staff were looking forward to welcome back the public on June, 4.

"We'd love to get the locals coming out and supporting us," he said.

"Obviously it's very important as the Visitor Experience helps fund our operations out here like buying medical equipment, so having it closed is not beneficial."

In order to ensure public and staff safety, a maximum of 50 guests will be allowed in, they will have to sign in and have their temperature taken.

New signage will also be in place for guests to comply with social distancing rules.

Mr Larkin said the social distancing rules are the new normal no matter where you go.

"The best part about it is you can go in and social distance very easily," he said.

Residents can expect to see familiar faces at the Visitor Experience centre, as all staff will be back on board.

He hopes the reopening of the facility, which aligns with the easing of state travel restrictions, will result in visitors from across NSW.

"The things most important for me is sharing the RFDS story with everyone in town and regionally," Mr Larkin said

"The comments we've had from visitors has been fantastic.... there is nothing like it (the Visitor Experience) in Dubbo or west of the divide."
