They formed a guard of honour in Brisbane Street on Friday afternoon to mark their respect for Diane Quade, after her funeral in St Brigid's Catholic Church.

Students and staff of St Mary's Primary School, where Mrs Quade's husband Michael teaches, joined the guard of honour.

Mrs Quade,55, died unexpectedly on Sunday from cancer "complications".

A college staff member for 26 years, she was the Year 12 coordinator from 2000 to 2020 and in 2019 "added the daily organisation of staff" to her workload.

Mrs Quade also supported senior students as the stage six careers and pathways adviser and TAFE VET coordinator.

College principal Kerry Morris has paid tribute to her "true friend".

"Mrs Quade was a strong pillar at St Johns College whose resilient leadership, dedication and concern for Year 12 were the foundations of the academic success of many of the Year 12 students in the HSC," the principal said.

"She had a holistic vision for the college and was a personal support and advice for me as principal.

"She was a focused and hardworking professional with a meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills."

College staff were set to gather for a prayer service on its Sheraton Road campus on Friday afternoon.

Mrs Quade is survived by her husband Michael and daughter Georgie.
