A police officer has been punched and spat on during the arrest of a woman at Wellington on Tuesday.
About 2.45pm on Tuesday, police were called to Thornton Street, Wellington after reports that a woman was involved in an altercation.
Police attended and were told a woman was standing in the middle of the road waving her arms about when a car slowed down to avoid her.
The woman allegedly kicked the car, damaging the rear side door.
Police attempted to speak to the woman before she spat at and punched a leading Senior Constable in the face.
After resisting police, the 21-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Wellington Police Station.
While at the station, the woman allegedly spat in the face of the officer again.
She was charged with two counts of not comply noticed direction re spitting/coughing - COVID-19, resist officer in execution of duty, three counts of assault officer in execution of duty, and destroy or damage property.
The Albury woman was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday.
