The COVID-19 lockdown put the kibosh on large face-to-face meetings in Dubbo and elsewhere in Australia. But families, friends, businesses and community organisations like the Rotary Club of Dubbo South have managed to "stay in touch". Since mid-April the club has been having virtual meetings with "attendance continuing to gain strength". Club president Brett McCarthy has provided a progress report on the virtual meetings. "There is still plenty of information shared and discussion on a range of topics," he said. "There is fun and banter and a chance for some people to share their COVID-19 stories. "More importantly, it ensures our members stay in touch and continue that social interaction that is vital to our mental health and overall well-being." Club secretary Tony Speirs is helping other members get the hang of Zoom. "It is certainly a different way to conduct our meetings but I believe the members have embraced the concept wholeheartedly and continued on with goodwill and fellowship," he said.
